As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence from colonial rule, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi), has called on Nigerians to remain united and continue to offer fervent prayers for leaders at all levels of governance.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker urged citizens across regions, tribes, and faiths to uphold patriotism, optimism, and vigilance, while reminding political leaders to remain steadfast in fulfilling their promises of development.
“Our beloved Nigeria has been a shining light in Africa upon which many nations look up to. In 65 years, we have recorded significant transformations, but more still needs to be done, particularly in strengthening security and stabilizing the economy to make our nation attractive for investors. Citizens must also desist from unethical conduct and serve as good ambassadors of their families, communities, and states,” the statement quoted the Speaker as saying.
Dr. Suleiman commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his transformational leadership, impactful projects, and commitment to unity and progress, describing him as “a voice of the voiceless whose efforts should be emulated by leaders across the nation.”
He further stressed the importance of celebrating Nigeria’s independence by honoring past heroes whose struggles, sacrifices, and submissions paved the way for the country’s freedom. “Our diversity is destined by God. We must therefore tolerate one another and work together for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development,” he emphasized.
The Speaker concluded by urging Nigerians to pool ideas and resources toward uplifting living standards nationwide. He highlighted health, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructure as key areas of focus to make the country conducive for both citizens and foreigners. He also prayed for Nigeria to overcome its challenges and for leaders to surpass the expectations of the people in delivering good governance.
Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria!
