2025 Christmas: Bauchi Speaker Calls for Kindness, Repentance and Unity

As Christians across the world mark the 2025 Christmas celebration, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (ĆŠangaladiman Ningi), has extended warm felicitations to Christian communities across Bauchi State, urging them to reflect deeply on the values the season represents.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker described Christmas as a sacred period marking the birth of Jesus Christ, noting that it should go beyond feasting and festivities to a genuine time of kindness, repentance, forgiveness, unity, and collective commitment toward societal development.

“From time immemorial, Christians have been known for peaceful coexistence, cordial relationships, and honesty in transactions. These virtues must be sustained,” the Speaker stated. He stressed the need for citizens to set aside religious, ethnic, and regional differences and focus on actions that add value to human lives. According to him, effective governance thrives when citizens support leaders through cooperation, unity, and sustained prayers.

The Speaker cautioned Christians, particularly the youth, against engaging in unwholesome activities under the guise of Christmas celebrations. He urged young people to channel their strength and talents toward uplifting others and building legacies future generations would be proud of. He further advised parents to be vigilant about the whereabouts and associations of their wards, reminding them that all actions and neglects are accountable before Almighty God.

Reaffirming the commitment of elected representatives, the legislative head assured residents of Bauchi State that lawmakers would continue to work tirelessly to deliver democratic dividends and improve living standards. He called on citizens to act responsibly, pool ideas, and combine resources in pursuit of shared goals.

The Speaker concluded by urging Christians to remain law-abiding, serve as good ambassadors of their families and communities, and celebrate the Christmas season with maturity, moderation, and a renewed sense of responsibility.
