Governor Mutfwang Triumphs in Tribunal, Celebrates as People's Choice Prevails
Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is celebrating a significant victory as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal ruled in his favor, dismissing a petition filed by Alfred Clark Dabwang of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) regarding the March 18th, 2023, Governorship election.
In a verdict delivered by Hon. Justice A. Y. Joh, the tribunal upheld the legitimacy of Governor Caleb Mutfwang's election, dismissing the NNPP candidate's claims of logo exclusion. This ruling reinforces Governor Mutfwang as the duly elected Governor of Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang expressed his gratitude, stating, "We give thanks to God Almighty, the ultimate Judge. We commend the Judiciary for upholding the voters' choice and validating the people's will in Plateau State." He remained confident in the forthcoming judgements.
Emphasizing the importance of democracy, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged that while petitions like this are part of the democratic process, justice ultimately prevails.
The Governor also highlighted the positive impact of the tribunal's eight consecutive judgments favoring the PDP, reinforcing the party's previous election victories. Despite the distractions, he reaffirmed his commitment to providing effective governance for the people of Plateau State and praised his team's dedication.
With one more Governorship petition pending, Governor Mutfwang expressed hope and confidence that it, too, will be resolved in his favor. He looks forward to closing this chapter and focusing on the task of governance.
Meanwhile, the Tribunal, earlier in the day, adopted written submissions from both respondents and petitioners in the case involving Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC and Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of the PDP, with a date for the judgment to be communicated to both parties.
