Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman assures Ningi/Warji women of more fruitful initiatives to transform their lives
The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and candidate of the Allied People's Movement (APM) for the Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has assured women across Ningi and Warji Local Government Areas of more impactful initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods and economic independence.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker gave the assurance during an empowerment programme organized by the wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Haj. Aisha Bala Mohammed, at the State House. The programme provided an opportunity for him to interact with women from both local government areas and reaffirm his commitment to their advancement.
Dr. Abubakar emphasized that women should be regarded as important partners in achieving sustainable economic and social development rather than merely beneficiaries of interventions. He promised to work closely with them before, during and after the 2027 elections, noting that their contributions to the success of families, communities and society deserve to be recognized and rewarded.
The Speaker's commitment to women's empowerment, according to the statement, predates his current ambition for the Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency. Over the years, he has supported women with business capital, sponsored skills acquisition programmes and provided opportunities aimed at helping beneficiaries establish sustainable sources of income.
These interventions have helped many women become financially independent and reduced their reliance on parents, husbands and guardians for their basic needs.
The Speaker also acknowledged the significant role played by his wife, Haj. Abi Hafsat AYS, in advancing women-focused initiatives. He described her as a committed partner in programmes aimed at improving women's access to education, healthcare, professional development and business opportunities.
More than 100 women from Ningi and Warji who benefited from the empowerment programme expressed appreciation for the initiative and reaffirmed their support for Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman ahead of the 2027 elections. They pledged to continue mobilizing support for his political ambition under the APM.
The beneficiaries maintained that initiatives targeting women remain important at a time when many families are facing economic challenges, stressing that empowering women has a direct impact on households and communities.
The Speaker further assured the women that he would continue to champion initiatives that promote their economic empowerment, skills development and participation in community development, while working toward creating more opportunities for women across Ningi and Warji.
