In a determined effort to bring development closer to the people and address long-standing community needs, the Member representing Burra Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Tanko Burra, has launched several capital projects aimed at transforming the living conditions of his constituents.
Speaking during the flag-off, Hon. Burra explained that the projects followed a needs assessment conducted across Bashe, Gamji, and Kafin Lemo wards. The projects, valued at ₦1,492,000, are aimed at addressing key infrastructural deficits and include the construction of drainage systems, small bridges, boreholes, renovation of mosques, and the erection of public shelters (kwata).
So far, the lawmaker has disbursed 50% of the total amount to initiate the first phase of implementation. Specifically, Agwarmaji ward received ₦700,000 to commence drainage works, Gamji ward got ₦250,000 for constructing a public shelter, while Bashe ward received ₦600,000 for community projects. Additionally, in response to a longstanding need, Hon. Burra donated ₦100,000 to support the purchase of carpets and prayer items for the mosque in Tashan Loko.
Beyond the project funding, 26 community representatives—each from the benefiting wards—received ₦10,000 as logistical support, while each transport team (bus) was given ₦50,000 to aid mobility during the implementation phase. In total, Hon. Burra committed over ₦3,050,000 in one day toward development, ease of transportation, and provision of decent places of worship.
In their remarks, community leaders including Yahaya Ibrahim Lingya (Bashe), Ado—Youth Leader (Gamji), and Usman Galadima (Agwarmaji) expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Burra for consistently initiating life-changing projects. They pledged to monitor the execution of all projects to ensure quality delivery using durable materials.
