Bauchi Assembly Sets Up Ad-Hoc Committee on Local Government Creation and Restoration

 


The Bauchi State House of Assembly has constituted an Ad-Hoc Committee on Local Government Creation and Restoration as part of its legislative commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and administrative efficiency across the state.


In a statement signed by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the announcement was made during the plenary session held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi, Barden Kudun Katagum).


The committee is mandated to study, engage stakeholders, and make actionable recommendations on the creation of new local government areas and the restoration of previously existing ones. The aim, the Speaker noted, is to enhance service delivery, foster political inclusion, and meet the growing aspirations of citizens at the grassroots.


The composition of the committee is as follows:

The Speaker emphasized the critical role the committee will play in addressing legitimate calls for decentralization and improving access to governance for all citizens.
