Tribunal Judgement: Governor Inuwa Yahaya Hails Verdict As Resounding Affirmation Of People's Will, Trust

Gombe State, Nigeria -

In a landmark decision that has reverberated across the political landscape of Gombe State, the Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the re-election of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON in the fiercely contested gubernatorial poll held on March 18, 2023. The judgment, delivered by a 3-man panel of judges led by Justice S.B Belgore, dismissed the petitions filed by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Jibrin Barde, as well as the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) and its candidate, Bala Nafiu.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, responding to the tribunal's decision, hailed it as a victory for democracy and an overwhelming vote of confidence in his leadership. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Gombe State for their unwavering support and trust in his administration.

"This verdict is a call to greater service, a continuation of our Greater Gombe Agenda, and the consolidation of good governance. It is a victory for democracy, a proof of the strength of our institutions, and a reflection of the faith our citizens have in our vision for Gombe State," stated the Governor.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also commended the tribunal judges for their diligence and commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law. He acknowledged the efforts of his legal team in mounting a robust and effective defense and thanked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for their unwavering support throughout the legal proceedings.

In a conciliatory gesture, Governor Inuwa Yahaya extended an olive branch to members of the opposition, emphasizing the need for unity and progress in the state. He said, "Gombe is for all, and in the spirit of unity and progress, there are no victors and no vanquished. Together, we shall continue to build a better Gombe for everyone."

"As we move forward, we count on the continued support and understanding of all our citizens in the noble task of building Gombe State for sustainable growth, development, and prosperity. Together, we shall achieve even greater milestones," he affirmed.

The decision of the Election Petition Tribunal has brought a sense of closure to a contentious election season in Gombe State, and it is expected that Governor Inuwa Yahaya will continue to steer the state towards progress and development in his second term in office.
