Subsidy Removal: Gombe Govt Approves N10,000 Salary Increase for Workers

In a move aimed at alleviating the impact of fuel subsidy removal, the Gombe State Government has approved a salary increment of N10,000 for all workers.

Addressing the press in Gombe, Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau explained that this decision is part of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's commitment to mitigating the economic consequences of the subsidy removal on the state's workforce.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has consistently prioritized the welfare of civil servants and residents of the state, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the fuel subsidy removal, the state government has taken proactive steps to ease the burden on its citizens, including distributing palliatives to 30,000 beneficiaries, with plans to reach 420,000 people throughout the state.

This N10,000 increment applies to both state and local government workers, and it will be effective from August 2023. Dr. Jatau emphasized that there is currently no time limit for this increment.

Recognizing the vital role played by workers in driving government policies and administration, the deputy governor expressed his appreciation and urged them to support government initiatives. He also called for patience among residents who have yet to benefit from the palliatives, assuring them of future interventions as resources allow.
