Governor Inuwa Yahaya Takes Bold Step to Curb Immorality and Crime: 'Gala Houses' Ordered Shut in Gombe State
August 28, 2023
In an effort to address concerns about rising immoral and criminal activities within nightclubs, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has issued a groundbreaking directive, ordering the immediate closure of all 'Gala Houses' in Gombe State.
The announcement was made by Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Secretary to the State Government, through the Director-General press affairs government house, Gombe, who emphasized that the decision was prompted by numerous complaints from the public about the continuous breach of law and order within these entertainment venues.
The directive is set to be executed by a collaborative effort between multiple security agencies. Governor Yahaya has called upon the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, and Operation Hattara to take charge of ensuring strict compliance with the order. This move underlines the state government's commitment to safeguarding public morality and maintaining a secure environment for its citizens.
Among the establishments listed for closure are prominent entertainment venues such as Jami’a Gidan Wanka, White House Theatre, Gidan Lokaci General Merchant, and Farin Gida Entertainment II, located across various parts of Gombe. Similarly, Gala Houses situated in Kuri Town, Lubo village, Kurba village, and Bajoga Town are also affected by the directive.
Tauraren Wash, a popular spot located at Trailer Park on Bauchi Road in Gombe, has also been included in the list of establishments to be shut down as part of this initiative.
Governor Yahaya's stance on these closures reflects the administration's dedication to promoting moral values and addressing concerns related to public safety. The move has garnered mixed reactions, with some residents supporting the decision while others express concerns about potential economic repercussions.
As the directive takes effect, the state government remains committed to upholding its responsibilities towards fostering a secure and morally upright environment for all its citizens.
